NOVEMBER 14, 2011

The Festival so far has been incredible!
Jason Collet with Briar Gillis on Nov. 5, was unreal!! Amazing songs from both songwriters. There wasn't a seat left anywhere, people sitting here and there on the stairs and in the front of the Cafe.
Monday Nov. 7 had The Twisted Lemon in Cayuga full to capacity with eager diners, sampling some very fine dining from local chefs.
The Neil Young Tribute Night at Bohemian Friday was packed to the rafters with some of our finest local talent, and more people watched online (thanks to The Silo www.thesilo.ca).
Then another standing room only show at Flyers Cafe for Derek Miller with Terra Lightfoot on Nov. 9.
We've watched films, and discussed the importance of the natural environment and how artists can create and inspire change.
People gathered at the Shared Harvest Farm on Remembrance Day, in the evening, to watch a play by the Theatre of Tomorrow and to talk about what Peace is and how can we achieve it in our lifetime, starting in our town.
We spent a sweet afternoon drawing in a lovely farmhouse with Andrea Sutton and joyfully cut up books to make art with Dr. Tracey Bowen the next afternoon.
We welcomed our Rotary Exchange students from England. They ventured out to Local Music Night on Nov. 12, although it was 3am their time. Hope they are enjoying their trip to Toronto today!
Tonight we have The Abrams Brothers and Oh Susanna at Flyers Cafe, and expect another sold out event. As I type this, there are still a few seats left so send a message if you haven't yet.

Check the schedule, there are still lots of great events coming up...Female Canadian Songwriter Tribute Night, An Evening of Dance, Literary Night with Gord Rollo, Cartooning Workshop and then come and celebrate the closing of the 2011 Dunnville Rotary River Arts Festival with LMT Connection, "celebrating 22 years of the funk around the world 1989-2011" !!

OCTOBER 4, 2011

This year, for the first time, the Dunnville Rotary River Arts Festival is pleased to announce that we will be hosting 2 student performers from England as part of a Rotary Exchange!

David Powell
Born and raised in a small town of Borehamwood just outside of London, England. David is a modest actor who can boast a string of successful performances with The Ark Theatre Company. Landing leading roles in each of the last three company headline shows; A Handbag, It Snows and Cloudbusting, as well as note able appearances in versions of Jim Cartwright's Two and as Arturo Ui in The Resistable Rise of. David has performed at intimate but respectable theatres such as The Welwyn Garden City Barn Theatre, The Palace Theatre and The Ark Theatre, while also acting in National Festival performances at modern venues such as The Depot Center, Finchley. Adding the esteemed River Arts Festival to that list and performing a monologue based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem of the same name, Tithonus, David Powell portrays a soldier tortured between the struggles of life in war.

Paige Blackwell
Paige Blackwell grew up just North-West of London in Borehamwood. She has studied many styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary since the age of 5 and always knew she wanted to pursue a career as a dancer. Paige has enrolled herself into a variety of musical theatre schools and performed in many dance shows and musicals including Gypsy, Fame, High School Musical and Hairspray, landing a named role in each. Paige has also performed in the West End of London numerous times at theatres such as Her Majesty’s, Sadler’s Wells, as well as being a backing dancer for British Soap Star Thomas Law at the London Palladium. In May, Paige was selected to perform with England's cheerleading squad 'Allstarzz' and participated in the Guard of Honour at the IRB Seven’s at Twickenham Stadium in London. Paige is extremely excited to be performing a lyrical jazz routine to Queen’s ‘The Show Must Go On’ at the River Arts Festival and hope people like what they see.

We are very, very pleased to welcome our new sponsor...The Dunnville Rotary!! The festival will now be known as The Dunnville Rotary River Arts Festival...how cool is that?
