The Festival

2010 was great! 2011 will be even better!

Join us in November for two weeks – November 5– 19 - for the River Arts Festival; a creative multidisciplinary shindig proudly presented by members of the arts community, and hosted throughout downtown Dunnville, Ontario.

Over the last five years, the artistic energy of Dunnville and the surrounding area has been building a common venue for expression in this dynamic Arts Festival. Join us for this sixth year’s celebration!

What will you find this year?
• More than 50 visual artists displaying their work in 5 downtown venues: Flyers Cafe / Haldimand Art Works; Bohemian Friday; The Regional News; the Queens Hotel, and; Queen Street Paint and Decor.
• Dunnville Community Theatre with ongoing performances throughout the two weeks
• Some of the very best in independent Canadian roots, folk and singer/songwriter music to be had drawn from both local and national stages
• Author’s events
• Video presentations from both new and established video/film producers
• A Culinary Arts evening
• Workshops
• A children’s art show
• Children’s and youth literary competition
• Dance event.
Check out the schedule (being updated as new information is available and bookings are confirmed.)

We work hard to keep Festival events affordable. Most have no entry fee although they may require a ticket (contact Flyers Cafe at 905-701-8527 to reserve tickets for events.) In most cases, however, you will be invited to make a donation! The Culinary Arts evening is an exception, and tickets for this scrumptious display of talent are $40 each.
So, who's excited?

Who’s behind the Festival?

The result of a partnership between local artists and Haldimand Art Works, and with strong support from the community and investment from funders, the River Arts Festival is the result of dedicated and energetic volunteers engaged in year-round planning and marketing.
The River Arts Festival Planning Committee includes:
Jody Orr (Chair and Visual Arts)
Frances Porter (Music and Marketing)
Marina Johnston (Secretary, Resource Development and Children’s Events)
Tracey Stone (Visual Arts and Children’s Events)
Lacie Williamson (Resource Development)
Gerry Topolniski (Culinary arts, Video and Dance)

Festival founder, Mark Schmidt, now residing in England, stays in touch and we are delighted to have his ongoing support, interest and ideas!
Festival finances are managed by Haldimand Art Works (HAW) and donations are acknowledged with a charitable tax receipt.
